GALERIE OPEN, KATHERINE NEWBEGIN

- The American photographer reveals the results of a comprehensive search for remnants under the title “Warteraum (Waiting Room).” The objects of her desire are abandoned places that still show traces of past use. A resort in Rostock, a lodge in Virginia, a deserted mental asylum—all of it features the strange charm of the morbid, allows the invention of stories of how life was lived, loved, and lost in the rooms she has captured on film before a great and final line ended everything. The grand brilliance of the photographs makes it all that much more subtle and one begins instinctively to ruminate about what took place for life to withdraw from these places. Until November 4.
